Job Description

Kaleidoscope Behavioral Health has an immediate opening for mental health therapists, to provide counseling to patients across the life span. We see clients as young as 2 years old up to 82 years old, however Kaleidoscope specializes in children and adolescents by offering play therapy, activity therapy and expressive art therapy. Kaleidoscope is looking for therapists who want to build their caseload with a successful group and become long-term teammates.

Now interviewing graduating students, provisional licensed and fully licensed mental health providers

About The Candidate

  • You are licensed in the state of Texas to provide mental health services, or masters level counseling student
  • You have solid clinical training and experience working with children, teens, adults, couples and families through the use of play therapy. Bonus points if you have been formally trained in play therapy from an accredited university.
  • Since you’ll be providing services to patients across the lifespan, you will be willing to see clients as young as 2 years old up to 82 years old, and you will be willing to see clients evenings and Saturdays, while you build your client load.
  • You know both your strengths and your limitations and are ready to refer to teammates if a case exceeds your scope of practice.
  • You are an entrepreneur who loves networking and building referral sources. Not only do you have great ideas about specialties you would like to develop, but you have the motivation and enthusiasm to take the steps to build your caseload.
  • You’ll appreciate that Kaleidoscope has an overflow of referrals to help you build your caseload, but you won’t be dependent upon them. You’ll enjoy the benefit of having experienced support in targeting your networking and marketing efforts.
  • You can handle the many details and endless documentation of a private practice, but you would appreciate the support and infrastructure of an established group.
  • You’re a team player, and easy to get along with. You respond quickly to emails from clients, clinical team and administrative staff.

About the Match

Kaleidoscope has referrals to get you started. With some effort, you will have a full caseload in a few months or so. But, what we are really looking for are therapists who want to be our partners for the long run. We’re hoping that you might be that person and we will get to work together for a long time

About Kaleidoscope

  • This is a in-person position
  • W2 employment
  • Pay dependent on training, experience and number of patients seen weekly.
  • Full-time employment 25+ paid weekly clients
  • Part-time employment 15 (min) paid weekly clients
  • In-house receptionist who answers phone calls and schedules intake appointments
  • Individual consultation with our clinical team; bi-weekly group staffing, case support and consultation; supportive team environment
  • Comfortable office space, secure internet, expressive art materials, 2 sandtrays and miniatures, 2 play rooms, 1 activity room, 3 talk rooms, work area, lobby and kitchen.

Benefits Package

Full Time Benefits – 25 direct client weekly, must meet 25 min weekly clients over a 12-week period to be eligible for FT benefits

  • Supervision by Dr. Kay Trotter for: Licensed Processional Counselor (LPC), Registered Play Therapist (RPT), Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) Certification, and Child Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) Certification  

  • Employee will receive 1-week paid vacation, after 6 months of full time employment, and 2-weeks paid vacation after 3 year of full time employment. 

  • Employee will be reimbursed for expenses incurred for Psychology Today profiles, marketing materials, and food purchased at networking events.
  • Employee will be paid a $300 stipend, per year, after 6 months of full time employment for continuing education and training.  Upon completion of continuing education and training, employee must present to Company documentation of completion, and agree to and sign a 1-year continued employment with Company.
  • Leadership development opportunities to enhance leadership skills
  • Health Insurance – will be offered as soon as an employee reaches full time status. Which is: meet 25 min paid weekly clients over a 12-week period. As opposed to group insurance where the employee has little to no control over their individual coverage. Coverage does not continue or follow the employee if you leave your job. Healthier individuals pay the same premiums as those who are considered to be a higher risk within the group policy.  Rather group insurance management is looking at individual insurance for Kaleidoscope Behavioral Health. Where each employee can choose the level of coverage and monthly cost and these plans travel with the individual and their families. We are considering offering Manhattan Life est. in 1850 for Health insurance to our family of Counselors. Please see the attached policy profile for your review. Ref. Affordable choice brochure.

Your Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or PhD from an accredited college or university with major coursework related to the practice of mental health counseling with emphasis in Play Therapy or related field. Or current Masters level counseling student.
  • Possess a working knowledge of mental health diagnoses and potential behavioral manifestations
  • Registered Play Therapist preferred, but not required
  • Team Player: you’re a person who plays and works well as a member of a team and group – Kaleidoscope needs strong team players to perform well and reach their goals
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to build rapport with clients and staff
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Ability to demonstrate literacy in using computerized information systems
